The Grademy Success Collective by Navcap
Is a A Strategic Training Model offered as a 5 Week Seminar or a Suite of Signature Workshops designed to prepare graduate students for career readiness & career sponsorship. Learn how you can facilitate a UNIVERSITY PILOT.
Innovations in career guidance in higher education have shifted from consulting towards building networking communities, ecosystems, and social mobility (Dey & Cruzvergara, 2019). However, colleges and universities buy and large, do not have a robust model to support this change. We fill this gap.
What graduate students get out of it:
Our graduate student success trainings prepare Black and Brown graduate students for career readiness, how to cultivate mentorship relationships, and how to maximize supports within the university and beyond.
Details on each of our 5-part model below.
✓ Establish Your Success Blueprint – Get knowledgeable on what is needed to be successful as a grad student beyond academics and academic advising. Conduct a gap analysis to identify strengths and priority areas of growth. Create a graduate student success plan.
✓ Navigating The Terrain – Learn effective approaches to survey your university landscape, tap into available resources, and learn the place-based history and culture. Create manageable benchmarks, and manage expectations for personal, academic, and professional success. Develop relationships across multiple areas to increase your personal network effect in the university context.
✓ Mentee Mindset/Mentor Stance – Discover and use coaching and mentee mindset frames, success cycle implementation tools, approaches for effective communication, advocacy, problem-solving, and negotiation skills. Create a mentor-mentee matrix where you identify career goals, communication strategies, and tap into both your own leadership style, and how to "be a mentee" with the end goal of sponsorship.
✓ Career Management Skills – Gain and leverage strategies for building social capital outside of higher ed and how to find opportunities to make significant progress in career positioning through organizations, memberships, and leveraging intimate professional groups.
